PROJECT: Stained Glass Paint Effect

PROJECT: Stained Glass Paint Effect

Another project for those who did not want to draw! – First they painted their entire canvas black. Masking tape was then applied in a graphic-like design, using straight lines to ‘mask off’ shapes on their canvas.

A ‘family of colours’ was found by skimming through magazines and each person painted their own triangular shapes by mixing their chosen colours and variations thereof. Instead of flat colour, our artists blended colour and in some shapes left the paint thick and textural.

It was fun watching each painting come alive as our artists spiralled their colours outward. While canvasses were drying, tea and cake were served. Then the very exciting part came: removing the masking tape, leaving behind the sharp black, leaded lines and the crisp edges of their coloured shapes. Lots of oohs and aahs were exclaimed. We had some very satisfied artists!

Another crazy, creative evening at In The Zone!
