Artisans: A Texas Gallery

The Artisans gallery, Fredericksburg, Texas pays homage to local artists that work in various medium such as ceramics, wood, metal, glass and paint, etc. The gallery was filled with numerous items, each of which took hours and hours to complete.

(Left) – David Warren ‘Road Runner & The Dust Devil’ – Ceramics
(Right) – Barbara Francis ‘Fanciful Fish’ – Pottery

David’s bowl and Barbara’s fish are both very tactile. One can almost see where their hands played and moulded the clay into the shapes they wanted. For each artist, these items are unique to them.

(Left) – Unlabeled – Metal & Glass
(Right) – Harold Dykes‘Star Bottom Basket Bowl’ – Wood Turning

The intricate detail of both pieces above was incredible. Harold’s wooden bowl was made up of of lots of little pieces all turned to fit absolutely perfectly.

‘Hill Country Series’

These small (approx 15cm square) paintings were delightful. Their charming, innocent take on the country, in bright and happy colours, stole my heart.

It was interesting to see the variety of art and creativity of artists in this area. It was great to see a gallery like this that champions the local artist. I thoroughly loved browsing through it.
