Holiday Workshops: 3-D Art Under The Sea

Holiday Workshops: 3-D Art Under The Sea

The 3-D “Under the Sea” hanging door art project was a winner! All the kids loved the tactile painting, glueing, sticking, messy time! Each piece of artwork looked completely different. In The Zone seriously champions self expression with gentle guidance so they learn along the way.

Today’s project involved painting an under-the-sea panorama with cut-out seahorses and crabs that were applied with ‘spacers’ giving a 3-D effecy to their piece of art.

We encouraged other creatures and sea-items to be included in the background. There were whales, dolphins, schools of fish, starfish, an octopus and some 3-D rocks and seaweed.

The big excitement OOPS that happened today was when someone (we won’t mention names) stepped onto the very wet boards that were drying and stomped blue paint around. While everyone remained completely still, shoes were removed, mess was cleaned, and artworks patched. This was a perfect time to take a much needed break and have a snack. 🙂

We managed to finish just in time for a photo session before their lifts arrived. Everyone was very pleased with their artwork. Rose & Kim were so impressed.

Friday is going to be a completely different, out-of-this world project.
